Yeah, I don't see any problem with switching oils before 3000 miles. I actually had the dealer do the first two oil changes (1st @ 1500mi, 2nd @ 5000mi) mainly because I didn't yet have the tools to DIY but also because they were free. I had them put Mobil 1 5W-30 both times. One of the reasons I like Mobil 1 is the car was my wife's DD for the first year, so I wanted the option of being able to take it to almost any shop and get a decent quality oil. But now I really like it because I get it so cheap. I don't see any reason to use anything else at this point, and at that price you can pretty much change it whenever you want (50 mile OCI probably isn't necessary though
). I use Redline for pretty much everything else: MT, Diff, PS.
