I think your friend just wanted to stick to his original argument and not admit to being wrong. (A very, very, very common behavioral trait.) But he does have a couple points (sort of).
Microsoft has a LOT of damage control to take care of, and some PR heads need to roll for not just being bad, but letting Sony take complete advantage of the situation. All of this confusion should never have happened. Clearly Sony has their gameplan in place and Microsoft is still unsure what's going on.
And the XBONE will cost more than the PS4 for now. That's a decently big deal, to be honest. Not a killer one, but it's an important consideration. Something Sony knows too well since the PS3's high original price. Microsoft needs to match that, or get very, very close to it. |
Good point, Sony did suffer quite a bit from their price point. Also dont forget how many Xbox 360's were already sitting in the comfort of a new home before the PS3 was released. That hurt their sales alot as well.

Some responses about kinect are funny. Microsoft has confirmed you can turn Kinect off so it's defunct; all the system does is check if the peripheral is there. Don't like it? Do what I do at work: put a post it on top of the camera.
It's been mentioned before but if XBox goes through with their game sharing philosophy, gamefly is f*cked.

I hate the social integration as well. If you are a person (im not) that uses a social media outlet and have a lot of friends that game look out. Your phone/email is going to blow up with a bunch of the same BS kill feeds/"highlights". I hope there is a way to block them.
They should make a scary movie featuring the Kinect as the view from the bushes of the hot blonde in the shower right before it shoots a laser that makes her head explode. Not before sending a bunch of images to the guys at NSA to jerk off to though
I am a little worried for GameFly and hope the developers can possibly come up with a way to do a dealer license of some sort. Kind of how Microsoft does with PC builders. Im not to sure how that stuff works or if its possible. Its a thought anyway....
