I see that the previous owner installed the red GTR button. I wonder if when he put back the console if he didn't plug it back in. but that still doesn't make sense because why would it work initially?

Same here. Worked great until it didn't. Thought replacing the battery would do the trick but no. Come to think of it, the fob was working long distance even before the battery change.

did install a short shifter recently so I will definitely check the brake handle area today since my interior is still out.
