If the OEM body costs $1100 and your kit costs $700. Not only the value of your car goes down because you modified it with aftermarket parts, but it went down even more because you basically removed $400 worth of parts from your car. You'd hold the same value if you kept your original body panels and just removed your passanger seat and threw it out. Many don't think about that but it makes plenty sence.

This statement is partially false, OEM parts are inflated for a number of reasons. Profit, manufacturer
thinks it is worth more, etc. Also, the value of your car is not diminished by adding a body kit or even increased by adding a more expensive body kit. Now I am not sure what X price we should be paying for a new hood or bumper, with parts to mount (if not using stock), but at the same time it does not matter how good your part is if you price it above the rest of the market it will not sell very well.
