I used to have a Pioneer 920bt because of how OEM it looks in the Z.
Then I seen BestBuy had a sale on AppRadio2's for like $200 brand-new ( they are back up to $500 now
sorry ) So snagged one of them and set it up. As some of you know with Pandora and Pioneer and even you AppRadio users is that it will prompt you on the phone to run certain apps which can be a real PITA when you have your device in your glove box. I did some research and a friend turned me on to the products of ProClip. So this showing a ProClip setup in a 370z with AppRadio2
This thread is more of to show the proper cradle to get when buying from ProClip and how it looks in the car with AppRadio. I had to take pictures with my spare SamsungGalaxy of the iPhone5 with the AppRadio2 in one picture so those pics are not really clear.
What to order from ProClip:
ProClip Angled Mount
2009-2014 Nissan 370Z
854314 $29.99
Adjustable Holder for Wraps, Skins, Shields and Super Thin Cases with Cable Attachment
Apple iPhone5
514438 $59.99
^ this Adjustable holder is for iPhone5's that are wrapped, naked, or a thin case. This also is for taking the 30-Pin, or in this senario the Digital AV adapter to lightning. The other holders they sell that are simply lightning to usb are not big enough to accept the digitalAV/30Pin to lightning adapters.
The way iPhone5 works with the AppRadio2 now, versus the old way with 30-pin connectors is this:
iPhone5 -> Digital AV ( HDMI out and lightening in for powering the adapter)
The lightning goes to the headunit's female usb for power, and the HDMI is fed to the back of the AppRadio2. The way Pioneer has it working now is that all controls are done VIA bluetooth and it simply displays through the HDMI. So with that said, this is why you need the special 30pin cradle with an iPhone5 and AppRadio2.
Here are some pictures to show the end product: I still have the ipod 30 pin cable that came with the headunit in the glove box in case I ever feel the need to swap and use an older apple device. I just routed the HDMI, and lightning cable through the sides for the digital AV adapter.
