Yeah, normally a solid curb or a deep pothole will be the cause of curb rash. I haven't had any issues with construction roads and bumpy roads, particularly out there in western North Dakota (heavy construction in the oil patch area)

I had never hit anything and found rash on my old wheels. As it turned out my ex hopped 2 curbs and cracked my sideskirt too check to see if your wife has been joyriding the Z....i'm just saying....girls.....sneaky

Sorry about the wear and tear on your wheels though
