Generally I use one to remove the wax, and a separate one to buff. You can get away with 1 each I think on our car, but I will normally get new ones halfway through, depending on if I'm using a spray wax or normal wax. So 2, maybe 4 if you want. That is just for removing the wax.

I also use 1-2 for drying, 1 for drying dirty areas (door jams), 1-3 for drying panels after claying, etc..
