i absolutely hate slow AT cars. those sportshift modes are a joke with its slush torque converters.

I think it's what those cars are made for. The terrain in Asia is extremely similar to PR. I've driven the auto versions of some of those cars in PR mountains

some of the cars you mentions were meant to be manual. Their auto counterparts were golf carts in comparison. especially cars like the mini cooper, crx, corolla.
