I'll freely admit to being a technology dinosaur, hence this post.

My problem is that at the Nissan Datsun Sports Owners Club nationals track-day over Easter at Philip Island GP circuit, in my attempts to exploit the new hi-grip surface, I was trail-braking into T9 which is approached flat in 5th and requires a reasonable braking maneurve and down-shift to 4th before powering over the rise and donw to T10.

On several laps I left my braking until "quite late" having actually turned-in and trail-braked intending to release the brakes just before the apex and get back onto the gas to drive thru the apex and allow the car to drift back to centre track before hitting the brakes hard for the 2nd gear hard right T10.

My symptom was that the car would pitch to the right as I built up the braking pressure to slow the car, which gave me a real does of the squirts as this is the outside of the track - a 10m wide gravel trap is just off the track-edge and then an earth-filled tyre-wall - hit that and it is a 140kph stop in the distance between front of the car and the windscreen - obviously not a good place to be.

Some track-junkie discussions here in Melbourne have lead to the conclulusion that even thought VDC is off, leaving the ABS on leaves some residual stability control active and that can only be the EBD - it felt like I was locking only one rear, but one of my fellow track junkies has I beleive, quote correctly identified the fact that the EBD unit is blocking one valve in the ABS control block in a vain attempt to strighten the car up as it beleives - based on yaw-sensor inputs - that I am about to spin (I only need very very modest steering input to turn in to T9 - maybe even as little as 10-degrees or less of lock). This scared the crap out of me ... I'm travelling at 150kph+, wanting to turn left and the f4rking electronics are commanding the car to go right with differential rear braking on the basis that some automotive engineer/programmer thinks he knows better .......... Jeez

So, hence my question ....

How can I turn EBD off independently of ABS, or if I turn ABS off, do I also disable EBD completely.

ABS is turned off by pulling the ABS fuse - is this enough ??? and can I leave ABS on and independently disable EBD ...

All feedback appreciated.

RB
I think you are correct. The traction control system is still somewhat active even when you turn off the VDC. Maybe this will help.
