That's BS
I would have asked to speak with her supervisor after the repeated canned message. If you do end up going to the dealership, follow up with Nissan Corporate about how the trip to the dealer severely inconvenienced you and was completely unnecessary (and of course any BS the dealer tries to pull or sell you something).

This. They don't need to be touching anything to see that your steering lock is the correct revision and that it is working properly.
