just stmubled on this thread, but if you wanna see a really gory anime watch deadman wonderland, kinda a short anime but actually was really good
EDIT: oh and also i noticed nobody has mentioned another long running series that is actually good...Fairy Tail
and also don't watch the dub version of deadman wonderland, it is edited heavily for language and violence in the original
