Yeah, this & other crashes have shown how well a good roll cage can save a life in motor sports.
It seems the past few years the crashes, at the Texas mile, have been more on the braking side of the run most of the time. I told a co-worker last year when seeing this camaro run that they will run into aero issues soon if they keep upping the speed.
