Oh, it IS faster! Is just that the 7AT is really quick! If both drivers had the same reaction time we probably wouldn't be talking about this. The Mustang would have won pulling away.

When I had mine I had to warn some of the other guys about the 7at and how quick it is off the line. Basically, if you're stock, you're not going to win a 1/4 race against a 7at if you don't at least match the other driver's reaction time. As shown in this video the cars can be close enough time wise such that there is not enough time to make up the distance. Yeah you'll reel them in but you may not pass them.

In my experience, the 5.0 does definitely walk, but from a dig it can be closer than most expect in a 1/4 race. There is NOT that much difference between a mid 12 second car and a high 12/low13 second car. Remember, we are talking tenths of a second over a measly 1/4 mile. That's not a lot of time or distance!

The big difference comes when we move away from street tires.
