To add to that, Dallas's growth rate isn't very high at just under 180k people within 20 years (compared to NY which increased its population by over 600k). Granted comparing percentage growth, NY isn't very impressive but it's still pulling in three times as many people in the same amount of time.

If you really want an international auto show in Texas then Houston would be a more likely candidate since it has almost double the population of Dallas and a slightly higher growth rate.

Just looking at this from a numbers point of view. Food for thought.
The NAIAS is in 34th and 11th on the hudson pier west side midtown manhattan. New York City though isn't just Manhattan. Manahttan population is about 2/2.5 million. The other 6 million residents live in NYC, largest Borough and my home, Brooklyn... Bronx Queens and the Faux New Jersey wanna-be borough of staten island. All serving as its individual county. Bklyn (kings) Queensboro (Queens) New York City aka Manhattan (Manhattan County) Bronx (Bronx county) and Staten island (Richmond County). Furthermore the NAIAS serves North NJ,south connecticut and Suffolk/Nassau counties aka Long Island. Not just NY. If it's within 90 miles of 34th street and 11th avenue. It's business for the NAIAS

The irony of this is the NAIAS is in a city where most people commute by bus, train and taxi.

90 minutes from Arlington Tx goes a long way... You pulled the city of Dallas population vs. the whole metroplex. We have events and such that run three 3 different was. By city By county and tri-county. I see a NAIAS event that can serve as a tri-county benefit. Dallas-Tarrant-Denton. We can use Cowboy stadium and it would serve all of the above... Dallas country would Serve Dallas, mesquite, Garland, Cockrell Hill going up toward Richardson and down to grand prairie, lewisville. Tarrant would serve. Arlington, Mansfield, Euless, Bedford, Hurst,Keller Sothlake etc... Then Denton county. Aka the sticks. Actually it would serve Ellis county as well like 6 flags. lol

We'd be serving over 4 million fans here in the metroplex. Also, the realtime population of NYC is closer to 11 million. We are a safe-haven city for the undocumented. that means we don't hunt/deport illegals unless they've been arrested for a crime.
