Sounds more like bad luck to me more than anything, but just to be safe make sure you break-in EVERYTHING properly (engine, brakes, transmission).
There's no problem with getting a new engine, so don't worry about that. I've heard other members complain about the 1-2 shift so take it back to the dealership and have them bleed it, or in your case since you've has a blown engine you might be able to convince them to replace the whole assembly.
After that, try to relax. It's normal to be paranoid after having a bad experience but if you are then EVERY little thing you may or may not hear puts doubts in your head and then the car is no longer fun.
