They don't need to be on
your insurance policy (unless you have crappy policy maybe?). If I let someone drive my car and they wreck it, my insurance goes after their insurance. They pay the deductible, and the claim goes on their insurance. Unfortunately, it's happened to me before. Nationwide (my insurance) took care of everything and gave me zero hassles.
