Tonight I overheard a patron at an Asian restaurant explain to the server that they wanted their meal prepared without soy products.
At first, I thought this was absolutely ludicrous; I mean, going into an Asian restaurant and asking that ingredients essential to style of that cuisine are removed? Okay, so you have an allergy or some other good reason for not wanting that ingredient in your meal, but that whole scenario seems on par with going to a cheesesteak joint when you're lactose-intolerant.
Then it occurred to me that someone must have walked into a brewery and asked that the wheat and barley were removed. Now we have gluten-free beer.
It's not awesome beer, but hey... whatever people want, right?
