Mine always come in like that. I have a dremel that I use to sand the inside of the shroud down as thin as possible without puncturing a hole. It helps to keep a finger on the outside of the shroud to feel if it starts getting hot, if it does stop sanding you are getting close. Definitely paint after all the drilling and sanding. Also cut the connector off the xb to feed the wire through the hole you made, solder back on after. Also note that you will have to sand your drill hole as close to the front edge as possible so the tab doesnt put pressure on the halo to make it pop out. Use Automotive Goop to glue it after painting.
