I agree wholeheartedly. The competition/overlap that would happen between the GTR and the Z would not be good for either car. If Carlos knows his history, he won’t out-price the Z and kill it ….. again.

I see direct injection coming, but have no idea when. Of the USDM Nissan/Infinity line-up, do any current motors have D.I. now? What about the global offerings? It just seems like there isn’t much emphasis on it right now even though it’s a way to squeeze out power and efficiency.

With all that they’ve done to the motor, chassis, suspension, etc. to go from the 350Z to the 370Z, all I think we’ll see are varied offerings of limited interior/exterior trims, mild refreshing of random/inconsequential things, special badging/colors/configurations until this car exhausts it’s lifecycle. True to their past, I think they’ll run this car more or less identical to the way it is right now for the next 3 yrs and then “update” the motor with D.I. for it’s 4th production year and refine the aesthetics then.

I think the next Z will be totally re-designed from the ground up. Have some of the GTR bits/tech trickle down, consolidate the chassis platforms across even more models and toss in the newest N.A. bent 6 that has D.I.

Only time will tell …..
