Bad idea, as everyone else has already mentioned.
I'll tell you all a little story for educational purposes (at the expense of my own embarrassment):
When I was 16 I revved up my '94 Regal GS a bit in neutral and let her rip. First and last time I ever did that. Luckily, I only snapped the passenger side drive axle in half and was able to pick up a rebuilt one for about $70. That transmission must be some sort of beast, as the axle was at least a half or 3/4" thick and was sheared right off, but the trans never skipped a beat.
Nine years and 60,000 miles or so later, she's still my daily "beater" and runs great. Transmission is still smooth as butter.
