Default Front hood latch will not work

So I recently had my steering wheel lock mechanism replaced, thankfully it happend before my big road trip and I got it replaced 2 weeks before my trip. Thanks to this forum I knew what expect by the way. So I am on my trip and I noticed part of the weather strip at the top of the hood flapping around so I stopped to look at it. Suddenly I find out my hood latch inside the car has no tension in it and I cannot open my hood. Theres a cable attached to it and I dont know what the problem is. I'm driving 3000 miles to Seattle ( going the long way )and I'm concerned there might be another problem with the car. Called the Nissan dealer I took it to but its Saturday and no one home, I am hoping theres an easy fix maybe the cable harness was not reconnected or something. Any ideas? Thanks.
