As stated in my PM to you, we are happy to issue a full refund. The product is marketed as a discount alternative and we have been open about the asphalt composition on our forum posts.
The smell would be obvious when the release liner is pulled and when laid down but it DOES dissipate in a few days. And as J posted below, some people have no smell at all.

I know what smell you are talking about, but for some reason or another, I was lucky enough that when I did my install, there was NO smell afterwards and to this day there is no smell.

Even though it smells, it will go away after a few days.
