Anyways, in dm's case, I'd start with covering 25% of your hatch. Tap on the panels before you start, then keep doing it as you add material. You'll hear a substantial change in sound as you go along. 25% coverage is all you're going to need.

This should eliminate all of the panel borne noise... it MIGHT be enough to take the edge off of the drone... if you want more then you'll need to look into CCF/MLV coverage.
