I finally was able to turn my Gen 3 Glock 19 into a functional pistol by changing the ejector to the 30274 (Gen 4 ejector) and putting in Apex' Gen 3-specific extractor and a stiffer bearing spring with original LCI bearing. It's an ok pistol now, but the PPQ has been and is a vastly superior pistol IMHO. Prior to that $70 upgrade, my Glock was
not functional, with about 5 rounds out of every magazine hitting me in the forehead and about the same number ending up in my shirt pocket. It was beyond merely annoying; clearly a malfunction and one that appears to be not uncommon, judging by the number of people who post about it with varying degrees of disgust and anger.
The incidence of malfunction appears to be lower in the Gen 4 9mm Glocks, and the Apex extractors appear to fix them more reliably than the Gen 3s. Still no word that Glock has fixed or even acknowledged that their 9mm pistols have a high rate of malfunction.
