In my experience, you most likely won't survive the speed bumps or steep driveways even with a mild drop. There is no safe drop. It WILL scrape be prepared. It also depends on how heavy you are and if you count your passenger or not... Drive slow and angle it might minimize the damage(Or just drive super fast and jump over the speed bump).

I'd save up some money and get the coilovers. That way you can at least adjust the ride height according to your local environment.
