Well, for these lights I used a heat gun. The 4-5 sets I've done in the past (from other vehicles) were done in the oven. The reason I went with the heat gun for these was the size of the lights. They BARELY fit in my oven, and I didn't want to take a chance of them touching the sides.

I honestly think the oven is safe, and easier if you do it correctly. I only had issues with 1 light when I heated the oven up to temp, put the light in, and left the oven on. The element kicked on and quickly heated the cookie sheet the light was on and melted off half of a mounting tab. Other than that, no problems.

A heat gun is much more efficient than a hair dryer. You just have to keep the gun moving around until you get the glue hot enough to start pulling the 2 halves apart.

Just like anything new... Just take your time and pay attention to what is going on. Plenty of info on the inter-web that can give you the basic info to have you prepared to pull it off.
