Was there a 3.8 before the GTR. All engines start somewhere and nissan has been slowly going up in displacement since the start. Why would they go away from a very successful sports car line up to switch to something new before testing it out.

dude are you READING up on Z news or just assuming that because of some past pattern uou think business will be the same???

Do you know anything about the 2016 and 2020 CAFE standards coming up? Do you know that every car company is downsizing their engines.

The Q50 has a 3.5 hybrid and a 3.7. So if the G is any proof of the next gen Z, it would be in the Q50 since the G moniker no longer exists. So with your thinking, the 400Z is still NOT coming. think...

That said, Nissan claims that the G and Z will no longer share platforms, and the Z is set to get a more efficient engine, ie downsized... which further negates your 400Z thinking At best the Z will keep the 3.7 and get a 3.5 hybrid alternative, then make a 4 cyl baby Z.

The 4.0ltr v6 is the most unefficient engine out there. And honestly, once 4 litres, you should probably consider running a v8.
