I still don't get why change the Infiniti nomenclature. I get the fact that the number allocation could get confusing, but this isn't the right approach. A G20 Turbo or G30 Turbo sounds a lot better than Q50. I dunno, it sounds more....feminine. I think they should have kept the SUV's with a JX or FX designation, followed by a number...sounds a lot cooler.
It kind of makes you wonder what plans Nissan has for the next Z. I hope to god they just call it a "Z" and leave it at that...much like taking the "skyline" out from the GT-R.

My guess on the power bump is that, along with the DI, they retuned the car for much better gas mileage, maybe it will get 30+mpg's, thus not leaving much for a power increase?
Maybe the power increase will be in the Q60 coupe??? Maybe they want to reaffirm the sporty intentions of the coupe by having seperate power numbers?
I like the look of the rear, the front is awful, the side looks like a "luxurified" side of the new Altima. I have seriously mixed feelings about this package as a whole. Hopefully its true the Z will be a different car losing it's kinship with this one.
That said, The infiniti IPL being a 6 figure priced car based on something that looks like this concerns me. It feels like nissan is losing a foothold in the sports car market like mitsubishi and mazda.
Mitsubishi has an AWD sedan as there PREMIUM power sports car. We have an AWD coupe as a PREMIUM power sports car. Mazda killed high hp (RX-7TT) for lightweight (Rx-8) for RWD. Is Japan giving up on powerful RWD 2 door/2/4seat automobiles in the non premium market???
Both cars are great cars but not making any huge impacts in performance. The Z, who impacted the market with the last 3 iterations of the z seems to be slumping out???? Can it be true. With no substantial info on the upcoming Z... My faith is compromised. This new G is doing nothing in terms of making me feel confident of the Z's future.
That said, knowing the z is going for G independence... Will it be the better sports car or will it go from Cayman Fighter to BRZ fighter???
EDIT:
I just did the interactive tour of the Q50. Not bad. It looks better in film than in pics. Also the hybrid gets more HORSEPOWER and DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. So the Z may see DCT???
