Talking DIY: Change colors from Chicane Yellow to Magnetic Black 370Z for under $12

  • Inspect the bodywork to make certain there are not dents or scratches that need to be reworked:

  • Gather your preparation materials:

  • Start by carefully removing the headlight housing and front plastic grill:

  • Remove the doors - BE CAREFUL!

  • Begin masking off the body work:

  • Now what you've masked off all areas where you don't want paint, begin the prep work and start wiping down the body panels.
  • Begin with alcohol, and then get a cloth and make it damp with paint thinner. Lightly wipe the panels and painted areas until the paint become slightly tacky.
  • Begin spraying starting a few inches beyond the areas you wish to paint, and keep a smooth flow. Spay evenly and not too heavy. 4-6 light coats should get the desired effect.
  • Clean any overspray with Q-tips dipped in paint thinner or alcohol.
  • Sit back and enjoy your new Magnetic Black 370Z!!!!:
