I should have said a spa day is perfectly appropriate for an appropriate salary - I can't afford that $hit!
I agree with Mr. Gurney and think that even a spa day might be a bit much unless you just feel like being very generous. Date nights before and after the trip would be a nice gesture and compromise for the time away.
