The CSC is a lousy design.
I delt with it & replaced it a few times on my XJ. Why they don't use an external slave & fork is anyone's guess, but it will fail again. They also leak a little bit at a time so keeping an eye on the reservoir is necessary as well. As previously mentioned, it looks like the 2 common problems with the Z bit you. The steering lock should be solved, but even with an aftermarket CSC, it will resurface later down the road. In fact, if the trans is ever pulled, make sure you replace the CSC at the same time. It is easy to get discouraged, but hopefully you will be able to enjoy your car. While not always practical or able, a DD is always preferred to have in addition to such a toy
