So my car has 3500km on it, Stillen G3 Intake and thats it. Yesterday i decided to buy Redline 5W30 oil and K&N filter and i was going to do a oil change. So i got home, jacked the car up, unbolted the plug to drain the oil and then tried to get the stock filter off. I know it should be able to come off by hand but the damn thing wouldnt come off. Spent 15mins trying to get it off but it wouldnt come off. So time was sticking, i put the dirty oil back in...which was pretty much pitch black, noticed some metal shavings on the oil drip pan which were caught in my funnel's filter when i put it back in the car.

So i head to the dyno. Unfortunely the printer was out of ink and i didnt have my flash stick with me. Guys said they would email me the graph...still waiting..lol. Anyways i hit 280hp - 225trq. Weather was 32*C which i think is like 90*F? humity sucked as well so that effected the numbers...plus we are really high above sea level. Either way im happy, this car only has intakes on it and its making the same power as my cobalt did after i put $5000 into it.

So they finished the dyno and i asked them to change the oil so they did. Since i had the oil and filter there and it would only take a matter of mins i thought they would cut me a break and either A. not charge me for that or B. lower the price. They charged me $90 for parts/labour for the oil change. I said to the guy "wtf, by $90 for parts when i have everything here and then for labour when it only took you 10mins to do?" tried to get him to lower it but he wouldnt. So the $74 it cost me to buy the oil and filter and then $90 to get them to change the oil....im pretty pissed by that. If i known they were going to charge me the whole $90 i would have went to Canadian Tire and bought a Boa or whatever its called to strap onto the filter and remove it.

But yea, both the guys and as i, were all shocked how black the oil was with the shavings in it on a new car with only 3500km on it. So like everyone says, check your oil!
I had the same problem with the stock filter. I had to run to Pep Boys to get a filter cap. Even still, I was not able to get the darn thing off. The cap was the right size but because the filter's finish was so smooth, the cap kept slipping off. So then I used my MacGyver skills and stuck some news paper in between the cap and filter in hopes for better traction (snuggier fit) and waalla, I got the filter off.
