Mine was only under warranty because I bought the extended 100k warranty. That pretty much made it worthwhile by itself. I suggested to someone else looking at our year to get it if it's available to them, considering this issue.
As for what you can do, I don't know. You might be able to complain to Nissan since you bought it so recently. Long shot though. I did when my parking brake didn't work and my windows leaked in the first week, but those were considerably cheaper fixes than the clutch. I guess your other option is to look at an independent shop you trust. See if they can do any better?
