I am sure there is a small safety margin I lose by jamming the big tires, but I have no choice as the car understeers too much and the bigger tire is the only thing I can do to change the handling characteristic of the vehicle. I average a few track days and about 160 autox runs a year, they held up for two years. I guess I don't keep them long enough to blow them. I actually was giving my old set away to local people, but you are too far to take advantage of testing it.

The 285/285 is way better as it gets rid of a lot of the understeer. There is more road noise as there is a larger contact patch, the car does tramline all over the place, but it might partially have to do with my toe setting. I also got better wear on the 285 as I understeer less. Overall the car just drives different, the rear end just steps out whenever you want to rather than getting the constant plow like you would with the 265/285.

Is that on 18s or 19s? Is that better for track but not for Autox?

I hate deciding on tires. I wish i had more money.
My car is stock, the only thing I really can do to change the handling is tires. You can compensate for the lack of front tires by doing suspension stuff, shifting weights around. I believe their tire size is limited by the series?

I have run 18s and 19s on my car for track and autox.

+1 for me
Front

From far

Not sure if this helps, but this is an old video with the 265/285. As you can see, the car just had the death plow and I didn't have to make too many adjustments with the wheel.

This is with the 285 all around. While it still plows quite a bit, but no where as bad. These are all on slower autox, at the fast courses the backend can dance around.
