The pandering they make to the ignorant rednecks of "Jr. Nation" has driven off the demographics they really should be chasing.

Back in the late-80's/early-90's I used to attend a bunch of races each year - both Talledega races, July 4 at Daytona, night race at Bristol, and Charlotte Fall race. The racing was hard, the intensity sincere, and the competitors real. Probably the best media coverage ever with Bob Jenkins, Ned Jarrett and Benny Parsons.

As it's popularity grew, no doubt fueled by the implosion of Indy car racing with the creation of the IRL, it just got stupid. Ignorant (literally) announcers and "fan" shows, over exposure, and staged racing - green/white/checker, "debris" yellows, and "Boys have at it". In other wortds, the red necks run the sport. It's basically wrestling on wheels.

Sad situation. Big Bill France Sr. is lying face down in his grave right now.

I'm a Gordan fan and even attended his first Cup race at Atlanta in '92 where Richard Petty raced for the final time. Gordon has been a great champion, but it may be time for him to retire. As far as the events of last Sunday, he should have been suspended for at least five races. Yeah I know, that includes Daytona next year. Tough sh#t.

When drivers become so distraught that they intentionally wreck another drver like what happened last weekend, or worse with Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski two years ago, it's time to park their butts for a while.

I was at Talledega in 1987 when Bobby Allison went into the catch fence. What if Brad Keselowski had gone into the crowd? GAME OVER for oval racing in the U.S.

Don't believe me? Google LeMans 1955. If something remotely close to that were to happen today, it would kill oval racing. Mercedes withdrew from motor racing for 30 years because of the 1955 LeMans race. You think GM or Ford would remain if one of their cars took out a row of fans in the grandstand?

Rant over!

Good morning all!
Once again, 100% Good points all around.
