They give a link back to the originals at The370Z (see Reference section at end of each page). It still would have been appropriate to ask, but at least they didn't do as a lot of sites do and not give attribution at all (or claim it as their own original).
As for deliberate bad instructions, how about
: Lift ground terminal from ECM, run a heavy guage wire from the positive terminal on the battery and connect to ECM ground.
