While I agree with Ron I also disagree, OP if you are the kind of person that is looking for a great sound system 500 is not going to cut it. The normal upgrade pattern is

Head unit > Speakers > Amp for speakers > Sub and amp

I like to do things ONCE, door panels are not made to be taken on and off a million times, that is how rattles begin.

If your looking for just something better than stock, you might be able to stay in that budget for a good set of speakers and a amp, however adding a good sub will take some more cash. Save your money and get better if you can.

My recommendation for a budget.

Polk DB 6.5 component speakers ID CX if your going to amp them
RF Punch stage 2 10 sub
Kicker 10ZX400.1 OR RF P500-1BD

For power wire I usually recommend kicker however Knu Konceptz is quality becoming my new favorite.
