Weight only really only matters in reaching the maximum accelleration since the motor will have less to push forward in a lighter car(given all else is equal). The real factors are air resistance & drivetrain loss/rolling friction. The difference of weight at high speeds would have to be substantial to have a real difference in top speed. Hypothetically, I think a 2,800lb Z will have nearly the same top speed as an identical 3,600lb Z, but the heavier Z will need more time and more room to reach it.
