I love driving my Z as much as the next person, but stop and go traffic and 6 hour road trips can seriously get off my lawn.

Technically, this could be a good thing for drivers, though. Take the lazier drivers and make their car's behavior completely safe and predictable. Less accidents, lower insurance premiums? Who knows?
As long as they don't clutter the roads, I'm satisfied.
Plus, if drunky McDrunkerston wants to tie one on and drive home, if he has an automagic car, maybe he can manage to get home without killing that minivan full of children.

I doubt they would remove all ability to have manual control or outlaw it. It's too dangerous to do so. I would imagine the law would evenutally say something like the driver has to be awake while the vehicle is on autopilot in case of emergency.
