Actually it would. The gtmat deadens noise from the road, keeping the inside sound in and the outside sound out. You will notice that your sub will sound clearer and better because it's not being conflicted by road noise. Also, if you were to do your whole trunk, you would be able to play your sub louder and not be able to hear it outside the car as much, which is a major bonus for not attracting those red and blue lights. I would say go for it, it can only help you and the sample is free. Win/win.
