We have never taken a comparison decibel reading between the two different resonator sizes. I can break it down in a scale for you from 1-10.
(1) Being the quietest which is the 18"
(6.5) "Roughly" would be the level of the 12"
(10) Non resonated "Loudest"
So you see the 12" resonator is slightly biased towards the louder side and not quite in the middle.

Apologies in advance if this is a poorly phrased question, but are these relative noise levels (as quoted above) referring to the cabin noise or how loud the exhaust is outside of the car?
From what I understand, the resonators either decrease or increase the exhaust noise inside the cabin depending on the size (or existence) of the resonators. But do the resonators (12", 18", or non) significantly influence the loudness or tonal character of the exhaust from the outside? (I realize there might be slight differences just because the piping is a bit different, but is it material? Can you tell the difference between a 12" and a 18" resonated exhaust when the car just drives by, or only from inside the car?)
