My grandmother was moving that day and we where in the office of the truck rental company. The TV was on and the counter person said a plane hit one of the towers. I said that isn't accidental and just then the second plane hit. At the time I volunteered as disaster relief for the Red Cross plus being in the fire dept. I also just finished my orientation at the hospital as an RN. I went into work and told the nursing supervisor that if called I'd be going to NYC. My story: in an airplane over Turin Italy....oblivious...until we landed:"all americans please step to the left-thank you". Heart pounding-images and announcements-shock-disbelief. Desperate to get back IMMEDIATELY to my country...my family frantic-no phone service-stuck in Rome/europe for a week...
....home finally-that was a hard hard week. Wanted to be in usa very badly-w my suffering people.
