"No lights on" I assume means nothing unusual on the dash, and you did have VDC engaged (the default on startup). VDC will interfere with any aggressive U-turn attempt...

I originally Read over the VDC and my brain thought CEL for some odd reason
And no I've never switched that off either
Unfortunately haven't had the opportunity to play around in M mode
