I took delivery of my 2009 Platinum Gray on June 18. Upon delivery I had the car detailed, first w/ a glazing compound followed by carnuba based wax. Both were done by hand and I was very happy with the result.
Over the next two months and three weeks I used the car sporadically and logged 1,457 miles. The car is garaged at nights and during and has been washed on a regular basis. When driven to work it sits (some might say bakes
) under the Florida sunshine.
So today as it was being washed I noticed a lot of "roughness" on the paint and got concerned. I then went over the car with clay bar which removed all of the "roughness" and restored the smoothness. To "seal" the paint I then waxed the entire car using a carnuba based paste wax. The end result was a very shiny and smooth finish.
Why my post? Well it is mostly for those who live close to the ocean (my building is right on the Miami Beach inter-coastal) to keep an eye on their car and take the time to wax or clay bar the car as needed. Originally I was looking at waxing the vehicle every three months, now I may do it every two months and see if the finish "roughness" does not return.
Cheers.
