And you see how many replies I'm working with here? I'm a one man Z crew over here.
j/k of course, Tracie

I rarely touch or even hear my phone while I'm driving, so I can't ever blame anyone else for the same.

Here's what happened after you and JAR left for lunch -

Two of the cars in the group have intakes that are very susceptible to ingesting water when it rains. After you guys left, we got as far as a gas station at 620 and Anderson Mill Road. That's why we didn't join you guys for lunch. The invitation was appreciated.

Instead five of us huddled under the pump canopy trying to avoid the driving rain that started back up after we had gotten out of the cars. We stood there for over an hour.

We finally decided to chance it and ride it out across the street at a taco restaurant. The dash back to the cars ended-up on everyone being soaked from head to toe. Guru had to snake around the lot for five minutes just trying to find a way to the restaurant with the least risk from puddles.

Once at the restaurant, we had to sit outside at a damp table waiting out the rain. We watched the rain stop and eventually decided to take a chance at going back on the run with the understanding that as soon as it started raining again, we had to stop. None of us thought we were going to make it to Marble Falls based on the radar. It would have made no sense to call anyone to join us on a trip we had no confidence in completing.

I wasn't, and never do, monitor my phone, so I missed your texts. Frankly, I was more concerned about scrubbing a drive that I set-up for six other people 200 miles from home. I was the only person that knew the route.

Fortunately, we were able to make the whole run. We didn't attempt anything for Sunday because of the weather.

If we didn't want you to make the run with us, we would never have invited you in the first place. The fact that we hooked up later that evening should be further proof that no one was looking to ditch anyone. If I remember correctly, we exchanged at least four texts letting you know where we were. Once you got there, it was nice meeting David and Ryan.

Again, sorry we didn't get to drive together. Saturday was a pretty stressful day for all of us, and one none of us anticipated unravelling the way it did.

We hope to get back in Austin again, and will certainly invite both you and JAR. You guys are always invited to come drive with us in Houston.
Great meeting you, Mike! Sorry the weather turned And I'm sorry about that parking lot spike strip mess. Definitely should have mounted the GoPros at the original meeting location off Anderson Mill. Thanks for inviting us along - I'll have to get more versed at radio while driving if I'm going to lead I'm really happy that you guys ended up making the whole run. I look forward to doing another one with you guys in the future

For the record, I didn't see Tracie's 'screw houston' post, but I think she was being half-serious at the most. It's part of her relationship with the Austin guys that makes her more irritable when meets don't happen or cancel or whatever. I wouldn't take it personally; she mentioned trying to reach you but certainly didn't make a big deal out of it when we went to lunch after bailing on you guys. We should have all gone to lunch towards Austin - we drove out of the rain about a mile down Anderson Mill to the right. Some came through while we were eating, but it was done before we left.
