Machida turned down the fight against Jones on September 22nd. Apparently even Anderson Silva called in and tried to save UFC 151 by offering to take a fight at LHW since he might not be able to cut down to MW. It wouldn't have been against Jones (who probably would have turned it down), but against another LHW. This is how a champion should act facing this situation. It was a little too late though apparently and the show is still cancelled. I know they have been moving some of the undercard fights to UFC on FX 5 in October.
Now Vitor Belfort has stepped up to fight Jones at 205 for the title on September 22nd. I love this move actually. It's a fresh face against Jones and someone who is not afraid to take the fight to him. I'll have to go back and watch some of Belfort's recent fights to see what kind of condition he's in. Wonder how his speed will be compared to Jones? Jones is probably faster, but Belfort's hands can be quick and vicious if he can get inside.

I think Gustafsson should have been given the fight before Belfort... Oh well. Belfort doesn't stand a chance, he gasses too easily.
So, are the people at the UFC too busy counting money to know what is actually going in in their own promotion. Too many rookie
PR mistakes with this.
