Yes the access to the fuel pump and fuel guage sender are behind the passenger seat. There could easly be fuel fumes but they might of spilled a little in the car prolonging the odor. Which might need to be cleaned properly. Especially if it got in the carpet.

That's what I was thinking, but I couldn't smell anything anywhere that seemed to be coming from a specific spot...just a smell in the car like I left a fuel can in there for too long. I just thought it would go away after driving on the highway for a while with the windows down if it was just due to remaining vapors. If it's not gone soon, the dealer is going to have to do a major clean-up or replace some of the carpet back there.
