If you are on street tires spinning them to warm them from what I have seen and heard actually is conter productive. It will actually make them slipperier then if they are normally warm. Might be why your spinning/traction issue seemed to get progressivly worse through the runs. I would spin them a little on the first run but as long as there isnt a super long lull between the next runs I personally wouldnt spin to warm or go through the water box. Street tires get really greasy when they get really hot on the surface.

Slicks on the other hand MUST be really hot to get them to hook. Hit the water box, smoke the piss out of them, then prep for the tree.
