Question Acid Wash/Opti-Coat Help

Hey you guys, I posted awhile back about how to take care of unfinished aluminum rims and got some responses on some coating ideas. Well, I did some research and came across this Opti-Coat product which had some good reviews. But, the key, before putting the product on, is getting the wheel perfect because once it's on...it's on.

So, my rims came with a couple random spots that have made their home on the rims already. I have no idea how they got there or why those specific ones stayed, but has anyone done anything with acid washing? I've read it can make an aluminum rim look like new but I'm scared of acid + expensive rim so I figured I'd come here first before doing anything.

Any input would be appreciated (better methods to remove such thing)

Thanks!
