EPA estimates are just a point of reference. You're assuming the muscle cars you speak of will actually get their sticker numbers. I figure if I drive a EPA 25mpg v6 car and get 20 in real life, I will probably get 16 in a EPA 21 mpg v8 car. Everything is relative.
That being said, I get between 20-22 MPG usually with mixed driving. 16-17 when it's mostly non-highway and have gotten 26.5 on long highway cruises. Seems to be in line with my expectations for an EPA 18-26mpg car.
